Christine “Mika” Gardaya-Walton, MA, LPC

MRs. MIKA GARDAYA-WALTON…

earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Washington and her M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Bowie State University.  A licensed professional counselor (LPC), she specializes in neurodevelopmental disorders, mindfulness practices, anxiety, mood disorders, grief, trauma and resilience.   She is a Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist, Clinical Trauma Professional, and Grief Educator. 

As a graduate student Mika provided intervention services for children referred for developmental and/or psychological services on military bases overseas.  Most recently she worked with young adults diagnosed with neurological differences such as Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, mood disorders, and those with cognitive and developmental delays to provide therapeutic and support services aimed at helping individuals maximize their independence as they transition to adulthood.  Services and support were in the areas of developing life skills, individual and group therapy, social skills training, employability planning and coaching, and academic support for those attending college.

Mika is honored to accompany patients on their journey towards creating a rich and meaningful life. She is passionate about working with people of all ages to navigate life’s challenges and is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and collaborative environment that meets individuals where they are in the present moment. Patients are invited to identify their strengths and challenges and engage in evidence based treatments to develop strategies and goals that meet their unique needs and facilitate lasting change. Therapeutic approaches are tailored to the individual and may include solution focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, trauma-informed and client centered therapy.   

Mrs. Gardaya-Walton accepts Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna and United Health Care/Optum. She also sees individuals using their out of network benefits. She is in the process of credentialing with Multiplan.
