DR. ARLENE GORDON-HOLLINGSWORTH...
is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Texas (# 36896). She is a Houston native and received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Houston with a concentration in psychology. Dr. Gordon-Hollingsworth obtained her Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology from Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Her American Psychological Association predoctoral internship was completed at the University of Florida Health Science Center in Gainesville, FL.
Subsequent to her graduation from LSU, Dr. Gordon-Hollingsworth completed a postdoctoral fellowship at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, with the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Baltimore, MD. This was followed by a two-year appointment in Beijing, The Republic of China as an International Research Scholar with the Psychology Department at Peking University.
Upon returning to the United States, Dr. Gordon-Hollingsworth accepted a faculty position with Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children’s Hospital. In this position, she oversaw the daily operations of a fully staffed behavioral health clinic in a patient centered medical home as the Associate Medical Director of Behavioral Health.
Currently, she is a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Texas Southern University. Dr. Gordon-Hollingsworth teaches and trains both undergraduate and graduate level students. She is passionate about cultivating the next generation of skilled, effective, and responsive mental health providers, in this society were there remains a glaring scarcity.
Dr. Gordon-Hollingsworth has over a decade of experience treating children, adults, couples and families and plays an integral role in the training of new therapists, as well as students. In addition, she facilitates research investigating the efficacy of evidence based treatments delivered using unconventional modalities. DR.
