Tamara Heiskill- LPC-Supervisor

Mrs. Tamara Heiskill

Welcome! I’m so glad you are here. It is a significant step to begin exploring how therapy could benefit your life. My name is Tamara Heiskill, and I am a licensed psychotherapist, a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, and Acupuncture Detox Specialist. I currently hold an ALSOTP to help those struggling with issues related to sexual offences.

I have dedicated over two decades to work and study in the mental health field. I graduated Suma Cum Laude from The University of the Southwest and my passion and life’s work have always been to help those that are hurting. I have worked in various settings. I have found that each client can tell their own story of courage, hope, loss, love, and faith.

Difficult feelings, dissatisfying relationships, and/or unproductive patterns of behavior are several reasons people consult a mental health professional. If you’re seeking therapy, you might be feeling overwhelmed, anxious or out of control. You might be struggling with pain from your childhood, unhealthy relationships, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, PTSD, addictions to things such as substances, someone who is toxic, or simply seeking to understand why you feel or act the way you do.

Clients find my approach to be warm, collaborative, integrative, trauma-informed and culturally aware, providing an affirming space to support healing and growth. My clients find relief and healing through evidence based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Trauma-Focused Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. I utilize a trauma informed approach and guide clients in understanding how their past impacts their present.

I am formally trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. I am also formally trained in crisis therapy, which can aid in the treatment of trauma, depression, anxiety, phobias, panic, those facing a sudden or ongoing crisis, grief, narcissistic abuse, PTSD, and general well-being. I work with both children and adults to identify strengths and challenge their mental health struggle.

I rely on an eclectic toolkit of attachment-based work, emotion focused therapy, and trauma-informed care to tailor treatment to each client's specific needs. I teach tangible tools to get "unstuck" based on scientific research within a nonjudgmental, warm, environment. My hope is to help you move toward the life you want and create some distance from the thoughts and behaviors that might get in your way. My goal isn't only to help you feel better, but to holistically live better. I believe that healing from painful experiences can significantly enhance our health and overall quality of life.

Regardless of where you are in your journey, I would love to walk alongside you and help you find peace and resolution. I provide a safe, compassionate and non-judgmental space for clients. I believe that we all have the innate capacity to heal, and I help clients work through the issues blocking their path to recovery. I look forward to being a part of your healing journey.
